NELSON came to us because a small-town animal care service became forgotten when managers and leaders changed jobs a lot or quit, that the pound was forgotten except by one faithful animal lover that tried to help them. He fed and watered when he could (we're having 100 degree weather) and could not keep up. It wasn't even his job! He called another animal activist who set off an alarm that sounded throughout San Antonio. Rescuers went running and several vets offered their services. They gave dogs to rescue groups (of which I got Nelson) and proceeded to vet the rest and get them farmed out to rescue groups. Many heads will roll about this in the small town.
BUT...Nelson needs a home. He is probably a Dachshund mix...male...about 3 yrs old. He is independent but a lot of fun. Took him 2 days to find my bed and start playing with me. He loves other dogs and leaves my cats alone. He weighs about 18-20#...what he lacks in leg length he makes up in solid muscle. One picture puts him beside a medium-sized dog. May give a perspective of size. He is neutered, vaccinated, and dewormed.
Adoption Fee: $300
Nelson lives in my home in San Antonio, Texas and is able to be transported by Paws Without Borders (PWB) on the very early Oct 2014 transport if he is pre-adopted. Dogs are given a 5-day guarantee once they arrive in the NW with 30-day FREE dog medical insurance (if you sign up for it) once they arrive.
