My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

An application must be completed before we can schedule a meet and greet. Apply here at: http://welcomehomedogrescue.org/adoption/application-to-adopt-a-companion/

Blondie is a gorgeous, elegant and affectionate Afghan Hound. She is spayed and weighs 52 pounds. Blondie is 3 years old and is currently being fostered in Downey, CA.

Afghan Hounds are part of the Sighthounds family of dogs, which include Greyhounds. They are built for sprinting, and can run a long distance quickly. Blondie enjoys playing with toys and running around the yard. She will also do well with a family who will take her for a walk daily. Blondie would do best in a house without any toy size animals or prey animals such as hamsters, since they are bred to chase small animals like rabbits. Blondie turns heads wherever she goes and is super sweet! Blondie has never been around children, so we aren't sure how she would be. She does have a sweet disposition, however. In general, the breed tends to be independent and sensitive. They are very intelligent.

Afghans have a fine textured, silky coat and regular brushing is a must. Blondie's coat is short now, but it will grow longer. The coat is quite soft and a pleasure to touch.

All adoptable companions from Welcome Home Dog Rescue come with a full health check up, up-to-date vaccinations and are micro-chipped. All applications are reviewed in the order they are received; however, WHDR will ultimately select the best applicant to pet union.
