PRIMA's Story...
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION

THIS IS PRIMA....an adorable, feisty, 5 yr old, black/white, 13 lb, Shih Tzu...with perhaps a touch of Lhasa in her! Prima came to us from the Carson Shelter with bladder stones...four huge ones -- two bigger than a pair of dice! OUCH! This little girl was not happy right after the surgery, as she definitely was in pain. Now that that has passed, she will be the first one to turn over on her back and show you her belly! She LOVES belly rubs! Prima would be fine as the only dog in the family. She needs time to warm up to other dogs, and she is fine alone for short periods of time (not all day!). She is full of energy, so an active family would be ideal for her. Older kids, over 12 yrs old would be fine with Prima, as she really does like people -- even strangers on the street. But don't try to wash her hair yourself -- she does not like getting her head wet! When she doesn't like something, you can see it in her eyes!! She is not an aggressive dog, but she will let you know when she is not happy about something! Her mom says she is potty trained, but we never guarantee! What Prima needs the most is a family who will love her unconditionally, be patient with her in her transition and play with her....she doesn't care about toys, she just wants YOU!!

Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID

If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed.

We currently hold our weekly adoption events every Sunday (unless we are doing a special event) at the WESTFIELD CENTURY CITY MALL located at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., Century City, Los Angeles 90067. Enter off Santa Monica Blvd and park in the ORANGE section in the parking structure. Take the escalator up and follow the signage. We will be located near the Brooks Brothers (look for the purple tent in the Plaza between the two buildings) from 12 - 4PM

Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring a copy of your application and pictures of your home and yard if we have not done a home check! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting!

Don't forget to check out our Events Calendar for more information on upcoming events!

See our home page for more details about our adoptions at Lhasa Happy Homes.

Thanks for thinking rescue and adoption and for considering saving a life. It will be the best gift you ever give yourself or your family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

PRIMA, a Los Angeles Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Los Angeles, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Los Angeles.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Los Angeles already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Los Angeles breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Los Angeles paves the way for another one to be saved.
