Gina's Story...
Gina is a 2-3 year old 9 pound Shih Tzu. She had been living with a 71-year-old gentleman who would taking animals that owners didn't want any more. As this gentleman was becoming more and more disabled due to loss of vision and hearing, he realized that he could not care for his pets, so decided to give them up so they could find good homes.

Gina is very timid and shy. She is coming around more and more each day, but will need an experienced owner who can bring her out of her shell. A friendly dog would also be a plus in Gina's new home. After only 2 days, Gina is jumping up on the bed to sleep with her foster mom, and will slowly approach for petting. Gina was kept with another dog, now named Gigi. Gigi is very much Gina's shadow, always.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gina, a Atlanta Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Atlanta, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Atlanta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Atlanta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Atlanta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Atlanta paves the way for another one to be saved.
