My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sam! He is a 2-3 year old German Shepherd mix looking for his forever home! He is a large boy, weighing in at over 100lbs, but could use an exercise buddy to help get those extra pounds off. Sam is a moderately playful boy who loves people and wants to be with them. He is housebroken & will also alert with barks when he needs to go outside. His favorite thing is to roll in the grass and play fetch & is more toy oriented than food oriented. Inside, he carries his toy all over and will toss it down for you to throw. Sam is learning everyday how he is expected to behave around others, but would do best in a home with a medium/large-breed, social dog to show him the ropes. He walks politely on lead, heels and does not pull. He is perfectly capable of being off leash and has fantastic recall. He always comes when called, even with distraction (dogs, toys, food etc). Sam is learning the basics: sit, down, heel, off. His foster family is working with him on leave it, which is improving greatly. Sam loves all people, especially men. He is extremely smart and a quick learner - he has not yet been tested with cats or children, but he craves human attention so much that we believe he should be fine with older children. Sam is great being loose in the home, but is crated when his foster family leaves & enjoys sleeping on the cool tile floor. Sam also knows the "off" command if you ask him to get down from the furniture. He is such a sweet & obedient boy looking for a forever that can show him what is expected of him daily & help him become the dog he knows he can be!
