My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! River, at only 8 weeks old and 3.2 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 12 - 14 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued River just in time. River is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his puppy temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with the softest of fawn coloring with that distinguished black muzzle. River is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's very smart...very typical of the cross of a Border/Cairn Terrier. He's so bright with that Terrier curiosity and cuteness... and so loving...lap puppy extraordinaire He clearly has no memory of his scary start. Since River is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - he will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by group Obedience Classes. It only requires a few minutes of practice each day...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with great behavior. We're open to River finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. River loves children as well but we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent puppy training regiment. River will be up to date on his vetting. He was considered to be too young to be neutered in Texas. Farfel's will be happy to cover River's neutering/microchip costs when he gets a bit older.
River is the product of 2 breeds that generally aren't shedders. He doesn't appear to shed at this point but due to his young age, we don't feel we can guarantee his suitability for an individual with severe allergy challenges.

River will arrive on transport in Denver on 9/5/14. If interested in this sweet and cuddly puppy, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
