My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

9/27/2014 - ADOPTION PENDING!

From Walter's previous owner:

This is Walter. He is a Rough Collie x Border Collie mix about 4 years of age. He has the Border collie coloring but the Rough collie size and temperament. He is very loving, gentle and polite. He loves to herd sheep or other dogs but is afraid of the cattle. He weighs about 70 pounds.

He is very good with children and seems protective of them as well. He tried to steer our granddaughters away from a bear head mounted on the wall when he first came to our home as a 2 year old dog. He growled and barked at the bear head and when the children approached, he got between them and tried to push them away. That was on the first meeting he had with them. He has let them hug and love and lay on him also before we learned that our grandchildren are very allergic to dogs.

Due to this, Walter has been an outdoor dog most of his life, but we believe he would take well to moving indoors if someone is willing to work with him.

He sits on command and will heel going up stairs, but that's about all the obedience he knows. We just love him. He is 4 years old and has been neutered.

He is scared of thunder and firecrackers, so must be kept indoors during storms and the 4th of July.

He would do well with a loving family and is good with other dogs. We do not know how he is with cats.

When given a rawhide bone, he will dig and bury it.

He is calm and doesn’t seem to need a lot of activity. He loves to go in the truck but has to be reminded that his seat is in the back and not up front. Very sweet guy.

We have included a couple of photos showing Walter next to a 38 pound female border collie so you can get an idea of his size.

Walter's adoption fee is $150 and includes neuter, vaccinations, microchip, collar and ID tag.

Please note: We will be unavailable to take your calls and emails between September 5th and September 10th, 2014.
