My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Blue and I am a gorgeous 24 year old Blue and Gold Macaw. I came to Florida Parrot Rescue from a family where I was a one-person companion, but my owner passed away. I had been with my “one family” my whole life from the time I was a hand-fed baby with no feathers to now, 24 years later. I miss my Mom - but her constant love over the years made me the confident, beautiful, and majestic parrot you see now. Sometimes I do lunge and may bite people I do not know, but that is something I am working on with my FPR foster family – I just need to be able to trust you is all! In general, I am very mild tempered and usually not very vocal. I used to lays eggs frequently, but since coming into foster care I have not laid any at all, which is a good thing – these FPR folks know what they are doing and they know how to avoid chronic egg laying which could be dangerous for my health. My new foster Mom is currently working on adding pellets, fresh fruits, vegetables, and healthy nuts to my daily diet. I am used to eating peanut butter, cooked pasta, and pizza crust....but my foster mom said she is not going to spoil me with junk food, so we have to work on that healthy food thing she keeps talking about. My foster Mom says I am a very loving parrot, so please consider coming to meet me, all I want is to be back in a real home with new parronts to be loved once again by my very own family!
