Simba's Story...
Simba is what folks call me but I hear them also refer to me as adorable so I will answer to either one! I am here with my siblings looking to find a home to call my own. We are a bit shy when we first meet but if you give us a little time you will see we are certainly sweet and affectionate. We are active and love to go on adventures with our friends. Sniffing trails in the woods or romping around playing with my doggy and human friends in the yard these are just a couple of my favorite things. The folks here don't know my breed mix but are guessing I could have some Chihuahua, terrier tossed in. We are small sized and will most likely be on the small side as adults. With my slightly shyer nature I am looking for a teenage or more adult type of home. Stop in to visit, ask the volunteers and staff about me and I am sure you will decide I am perfect to be your guy!
Before making the trip to visit the shelter we strongly recommend checking our website for information on adoption policies and procedures. Please understand that because we are a busy place and because so many animals need our care and attention, adoptions are on a first come basis and no animal will be put on hold, we appreciate your understanding and look forward to your visit! To inquire about a pet's availability or for more information please PHONE the shelter (978-283-6055 ex 10 for reception desk) instead of sending emails.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Simba, a Gloucester Chihuahua puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Gloucester, or seeking a Chihuahua puppy from a breeder in Gloucester.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Gloucester already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Gloucester breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Gloucester paves the way for another one to be saved.
