My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NIKO is a 5 year old yellow neutered male Lab who weighs 82 pounds (needs to lose between 8~10 lbs). Niko is a bonded pair with his best buddy ONYXx ~ they must be adopted together. Niko is very affectionate and loves to give you kisses! He is house trained and was crate trained when he was younger but hasn't been in a crate in years. He will need to work on his leash manners as he didn't get the opportunity to go on many walks in his previous home. He knows the commands: sit and paw. Niko seems to be friendly with other dogs. He would do best in a home with no cats as he may chase them. Niko is approved for kids aged 10+

Update (2/27): Onyx and Niko are two of the sweetest dogs you'll even care for and love. It was a busy week with the weather and their foster mom's schedule. They were well behaved and were happy to spend time on their dog beds. Onyx and Niko continue to be welcome house guests.

Update (1/30): Niko and Onyx are a bonded pair looking for someone to fill that empty spot in their lives...These two boys are very loving and exceptionally well behaved. All they want to do is curl up on the couch with you while you watch TV or read a book. They continue to be very well behaved. Their foster never crates them, they always listen, they very rarely bark (even when someone knocks on the door), and while they are sometimes playful they are never rambunctious in the house. Nothing but chew toys are ever chewed, no food is ever swiped, no furniture is slept on unless they are given permission.

Update (01/23): Ready for the weekend and a forever family. Onyx and Niko are a bonded pair (9 & 6 yrs old) who bring love and humor to our home...let them bring that and more to your home. My son has nicknamed Onyx "the Gentle Giant" and Niko "the Adorable Goofy One".

Update (01/16): Want LOVE? Got LOVE! Onyx and Niko are still looking for that forever family. Their foster has had them almost 3 weeks now, and they have been on their best behavior. They learn and obey new rules (like no dogs on the bed) in a day. Their foster family can eat in the front room snuggling with them without Onyx and Niko begging or sneak feeding. They spend time outside during the day, but prefer to be inside snoozing and snuggling once it's dark out. They love to help their foster mom telework and enjoy taking naps during the day. These are two very well behaved and loving dogs.

Update (01/11): It's 2015 and their foster's resolution is to find these gentlemen their forever home. For those who are worried about the disruption adding two dogs can bring to the household, fear not...these boys have impeccable manners indoors and out. They give their foster mom space in the kitchen, only chew on toys (never her slippers next to the toys), sleep all night and let their foster mom sleep in every morning, They don't dig in the yard, are friends with the neighbor dogs, have minimal barking (e.g., someone's at the door), and have not stolen a taste or sip of any of the great foods that have been accidentally left next to them. Add in all the snuggling and unconditional love and they are a blessing to any family willing to take in a bonded pair!

Update (12/30): Adopting Onyx and Niko means that you are adopting two dogs that will entertain each other. These two sweethearts will also seek out one on one cuddle time with their family. A day in the life of Onyx: protecting the yard from rogue squirrels, playing with friends, a little indoor silliness, practicing his "pathetic" look and lots of resting on his dog bed. He is such a gentleman. The little white, fluffy dog next door adores him. A day in the life of Niko: fetch, drop, fetch, drop, fetch, play, cuddle, sleep. Niko wants nothing more than to be loved, played with and to retrieve. They continue to be well behaved, welcome house guests. They are a joy to foster and are full of unconditional love. Some lucky family is going to love having them around!

Update (11/22): Niko and Onyx are very sweet dogs. They love attention from people and enjoy playing with each other. They ride great in the car. They both like to retrieve and run around a fenced in yard but will settle when it is time to do so. Onyx loves to roll in the grass while Niko enjoys exploring the yard.

Update (10/23) Onyx and Niko are well mannered and easy going dogs. They love to chase each other around the yard. Niko likes to pick up sticks and Onyx will steal it away, and back and forth they go in a game of keep-away. In the evening both like to cuddle up next their foster's chair, or if ambitious one or the other will climb on the foot rest in front of the chair for some one-on-one time.

Update (10/9): Onyx and Niko are perfectly mannered in the house. They are very much cuddle bugs and have spots in the bed with their name on them. They have adapted to the household routine and having a great time playing about. They love all the people they meet and belly rubs and scratches. Niko loves stuffed animals and chasing balls. Onyx likes to chew on bones. They enjoy chasing each other around the yard. They would do best in a home without other dogs. They are strong on the lead so they would benefit from some training and harnesses.

Update (10/8): Niko was the first to get his feet wet and after a bit of encouragement did a bit of swimming. Onyx prefers dry land!

Update (10/2): Niko is a fast boy and almost caught a squirrel in the yard last week. This boy can run. Both are very healthy, slimming down a bit, and doing well. They both love catching popcorn. And Niko loves to play with tennis balls.

Update (9/26): The boys are doing great. They love to hang around and keep one's feet warm. Both have found their spot in the bed at night and their favorite pillows, human limbs. Niko is getting used to walking around the neighborhood and discovering new noises. Onyx seems to take the role of big brother and look out for Niko. They would like to find a home in a nice, quiet neighborhood with few dogs and little traffic around; and a family to walk and play with them.

Update (9/09): This pair is so much fun! they love to play together! see them on YouTube here: http://youtu.be/EdjRRetp5s0

Update (9/04): Onyx and Niko nave been settling in since their arrival at their foster home on Friday. They are starting to show true personality. Niko is a bit skiddish. Onyx being the senior of the two is very laid back and just happy to be getting belly rubs and scratching. He has also given up on playing fetch and other toy related activities. Both seem to like a light roughhousing, but best of all ....napping.

From LR evaluator: Onyx and Niko are very sweet boys! Both were very relaxed when they met my dog. Both are super friendly and social. Onyx and Niko both like to play outside and love to go on car rides. They love each other- Niko is always looking after Onyx. Onyx doesn't like thunderstorms- he just needs extra love during them. The boys love fruit and veggies as treats.
