My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTE: All our Cupids are fostered in private homes. An approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

Meet Hemi!
Hemi is a nearly two-year-old American pit bull terrier/shar pei mix. We call him a "pocket pittie," because he's only 40 pounds and won't get any bigger! Hemi's foster mom says that even though he's almost two years old, he still acts like a puppy, with lots of energy and a love of playing!

Hemi loves long walks, playing tug and chewing on his antler. If you're looking for a snuggle bug, Hemi is your boy! He loves to slide under the covers and sleep right next to you if you'll let him.

His foster mom says he's the king of kisses, and a very sweet boy. The perfect forever home will have lots of patience with Hemi and be committed to helping him learn how to be the best dog he can be. Hemi enjoys being with his family and, at his previous adoptive home, got nervous being crated for long periods of time. He's working with a trainer on this and has made great strides!

He's been around cats and isn't all that interested in them, and doesn't mind being around kids. He loves his canine foster brother, so we'd love to find him a home with another dog to play with -- preferably another male! If your lifestyle means that Hemi would be crated no more than 5 hours at a time, that would be perfect! If you have the time, patience and love to invest in this sweet boy, complete and application today!

Hemi’s adoption fee is $250 and he’s located in Milwaukee, WI. Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
