My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Logan" is a 10 mos-old neutered male GSD who is sweet and very energetic. Logan is friendly with female strangers, but is uncomfortable with men and tends to bark at them--it's pretty obvious that Logan had been previously abused by a man. However, he's in a foster home with both a man and a woman, and Logan has made huge strides towards becoming comfortable with the man of the house. He will, however, need continued, diligent socialization around men if he is to overcome his fear of them. He is very affectionate with the woman of the house and just wants to be close to her. Logan is good with young children, and currently lives and interacts well with two 3-yo kids. However, he's a large, excitable dog and has knocked over one of the kids, so he'd be better off in a home w/ older kids. Logan is good with other dogs, and presently lives with three other large dogs. We don't know how he is with cats, so we will only consider a home without cats for him.

Logan is housetrained for the most part, but has an occasional accident. He sleeps in an open crate at night, and does not like being locked in. Logan walks well on leash and rides calmly in the car. He jumps up on strangers when he first meets them, so needs further training in this area. In fact, we highly recommend that whoever adopts Logan put him through a basic obedience training course within a week of adoption.

Logan would do best in a home with experienced GSD owners. Above all, Logan needs a home with people who will be patient with his aversion towards men, continue to socialize him with men, and provide him with basic obedience training.

A woman in Concord found Logan as a stray in mid-August. She was unable to find his owner and was just about ready to take him to a shelter when GSRSV stepped forward to take him in. Logan has been in a foster home in Brentwood since August 16. Logan's adoption fee is $250.
