Facts about Boots

  • Breed: American Shorthair
  • Color: Orange Or Red (Mostly)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 7549263
  • Hair: Short

Such a pretty boy and gorgeous coloring too, more than a basic orange tabby, a light glowing golden.  Shy but sweet because he was born in the home of a well-meaning cat lover whose cat population turned into a hoarding situation.  Catvando is often called in for these kinds of situations and traps the cats, evaluates them, gets them veterinary care and adopts the friendly ones into homes.  The ones who are not socialized are integrated into a colony or very often become permanent residents of Catvando.  Boots limps a little from an old leg injury and is a little cross eyed, which we think is cute.  He is not crazy about being picked up but that could change when he has his own person and some stability.  There are plenty of cats who live their whole life and don't like to be picked up and get along just fine with their people.  He does give sniffy little whiskery kisses for your nose and who doesn't like that?  Boots is shy but sweet with a lot of potential and mostly needs a safe stable home to know he is loved and belongs.  At Catvando he is one of many cats and doesn't get the individual attentions he needs.  He tolerates other cats and dogs but might be happiest as your one and only in a quiet adult home.

About CatVando TNR Corp

About Our Rescue Group...

Our primary mission is to prevent kittens through a Trap Neuter Return (TNR) program. However, sometimes we get Trap Neuter Adoption (TNA’s). When shelters are full, we foster, socialize and vet the kittens. This part of our program also involves local youths in the care of kittens in addition to our TNR efforts.

While in our system, kittens are fed a good quality Grain-Free Kibble and care is taken to assure their long and healthy life to the extent possible. We supplement for specific issues i.e. Pro-biotics, EFA's, immune boosters and sometimes digestive enzymes.. Many are exposed to dogs and are comfortable with them. They’ve been exposed to many wonderful volunteers of all ages.

When possible we capture the mama with the litter to assure their fuller development. Many times we keep them together for 9-12 weeks. Our adoption fee covers spay neuter surgery, FVRCP & Rabies vaccinations, parasite, ear mite & flea treatment when necessary, and a micro chip. And some of them have a small ear tip—just a reminder that you’ve given a cat a home that could have otherwise had to fend for itself, on the streets.

Our adopted cats and kittens are welcome back for the duration of their life in the event the adoption doesn’t work out, or if it becomes impossible for you to keep the cat. We’re always available for consultation about behavior, health, or referrals to assistance beyond our scope.

Our Adoption Process...

1. Fill out an application

2. Face to face Interview, and meet with the cat/kitten

Part of our adoption process requires observing all family members interaction, especially children.

We always adopt bonded pairs, but single cats are sometimes available. Adoption fees vary, but are usually $25 - $75 for a single cat, and $125 for a bonded pair.

Depending on the situation, we may also need to carry out a home visit, and help with transportation and introduction of the cat to it's new surroundings.

Follow-ups are part of the normal process.
