Facts about Cecil

  • Breed: Bengal
  • Color: Orange Or Red (Mostly)
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Hello! Cecil here wanting to know if you want a fun loving, playful boy to be part of your life. I was rescued from a very high kill shelter in the spring of 2014. Even though I was very sick at the time, my rescuers were adamant that I was to be rescued because of my friendly, outgoing personality. My current rescue mom here at Healing Hope has worked with me medically for awhile to get me better from a chronic upper respiratory infection. I am most grateful, because I don't think I would have made it otherwise.
Now. I'm happy, active and ready to go. I would be okay with other cats, if they are young and playful. Have never been around a dog, but I'm ready for any challenge since I am curious and fearless! Sometimes when I play I can use my mouth . . . but never will I bite hard. . . but my rescue mom still thinks that I probably shouldn't go to a home with small children. When I was at the vets office waiting to be neutered, I was at the front of the cage, with my paws coming out trying to reach and play with the vet techs. (Little did I know what was going to soon happen!
One of my greatest attributes is my beauty. It doesn't matter to me, but "mom " says I definitely look like a bengal mix (and I guess I act like a bengal too). . . . with exquisite spots and an interesting face and nose. I also have such a strong Bengal like personality.
Though I am quite healthy now, occasionally I will get some crusts by my nose and a little teary eye. My "mom" and my current vet says my immune system was hurt greatly, because the big shelter vaccinated me when I was already quite sick. So, I must NEVER have another vaccine. .. . . ever!

As you can see from the video I love water. .. .one of my favorite things to do is drink from a hose or water faucet. Just another side to my goofy, playful personality.

I've been microchipped, vaccinated, and neutered. I tested negative for FElv and FIV and have had appropriate worming and flea treatments.

If you are looking for a personality plus guy who loves to play, play, play . .. please try to come visit me in San Clemente, CA.

About Healng Hope Cat Sanctuary

About Our Shelter...

We are a small, private not for profit sanctuary that for the most part specializes in taking in special needs cats. We usually only have 3 or 4 cats available for adoption.

One of the special things that HHCS offers is a "Foster to Adopt" program. Meaning if the person or family have any concerns about how one of our cats will fit in with their home or get along with another cats, we urge them to do a month long, foster to adopt. We provide them with food, litter, etc and keep in touch for a month. .. . give advice needed for introducing cats, or helping a shy cat. If all goes well, then after a month, we sign formal adoption papers.

We also do have cats available for both short and long term foster. This is a win win situation for many people (and the cats, too!) as people who may not have great finances are allowed to have a pet, while we pay for the food and medical care. Of course, the goal is always to place the cat in a permanent home but foster homes help us see how a cat does when it is away from so many other cats! It also allows a newly rescued cat to make socialization progress because it gets more one on one attention in the foster home.. .. so it better prepares them for a permanent home adoption!

We are a cageless facility that is run from a private home. We never euthanize for reasons of space. IN fact the only time we even euthanize is when an animal is very ill and there is no hope for recovery.
HHCS founder, Kim Rockshaw has been rescuing cats for over 26 years. She brings her extensive training in both allopathic and holistic medicine to help many of the cats at the sanctuary. We also do a great deal of work in our community working with feral cats (TNR) and stray cats that are abandoned on our streets.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our cats are seen at our home based sanctuary on an appt. only basis. This is located in San Clemente CA (South Orange County). Please call us at 949-337-8372 or email us at After we have our initial conversation by phone, we then usually set up this appt time for you to meet the cat(s).

Our Adoption Process...

First we speak to a potential adopter and find out which cat they are interested in or what type, age, sex and personality cat they are looking for. We also ask about other pets and people in the home (ie, children, older pets, dogs, etc) If it sounds like the cat they are interested in (or another one of our cats) is a good fit, we then email them an adoption form. Once received we call them back to review the application and address any concerns on the application. We also want the potential adopter to ask US any questions!
Our fees are $100 per cat, which includes all medical (spay.neuter, vaccines, microchip, flea treatment; vet visit and treatment if it was necessary). We also send people home with starter food, toys, litter boxes and other supplies they might need.
Our requirements will be indicated by questions asked on the adoption application and discussed more when we speak by phone.
We always do a home check . . . . usually at the time we bring over the cat..
We also offer a FOSTER TO ADOPT situation, which allows a person or family to keep a cat in their home before they make a final decision and do a formal adoption. This takes the pressure of people, if they are concerned on how the cat will fit in with their family, lifestyle or another pet. Usually the foster to adopt time, is about a month. We provide food and litter and medical during this time.
