Gem's Story...
My name is Gem and I am a 1.5 yr old lab mix that needs a new home with someone that has time to spend playing with me and taking me for walks. I know sit and down already, but would love to do an obedience class with you. I love toys with squeakers, bones and other chew toys. I really want to be an only dog and get all the attention. I don't really want to share my home or my people with another dog. I would do best with older children (10 and up). I am a loving affectionate dog and I will make someone an awesome friend. I am spayed, vaccinated, heartworm checked and microchipped. My adoption fee is $150. Please apply for me at www.rescueofhope.com. Thanks!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gem, a Grand Rapids Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Grand Rapids, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Grand Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Grand Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Grand Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Grand Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
