Thank You Bonadio Group in Pittsford!!!!!!

The Bonadio Group, 171 Sully's Trail, Pittsford, NY sponsored the transport that brought 40 dogs north out of a high kill pound in TN.   How high kill????   Well, while Katie was busy making the very difficult choices she has to make down there, she accidentally entered the wrong door and there was Emma a healthy, young, medium sized, black girl who was on a table, tail just a wagging not minding that her arm was being shaved, while enjoying all the attention she was getting from a couple of the staff.  Little did she realize that the needle that was now 2 inches from her arm was going to stop her heart from beating and her tail would never wag again.    The procedure was STOPPED and Emma was immediately loaded in the truck!    We also took George who was next in line because they couldn't afford to treat him and he was painfully thin.  We are working on George and hope that it is only worms and we'll be able to make him better.  He is one really sweet boy and we love him already.   We also took a pretty, really sweet, Cocker named Sammy who has massive ear infections, one eye is turned rather inside out and the other looks odd so he will need some very special vet care, but we have him in the best foster home for the blind and he's happy as can be. There are 37 others with their own stories, but these are the three heart breakers so far. The staff at his shelter do the best they can and truly love these dogs but their resources are incredibly limited. Thank you Bonadio Group, an accounting, business and financial services firm providing audit, tax and business consulting services, for making this trip, which runs about $800.00, possible!!!!!  All dogs from the south are heart worm tested, but they cannot be tested until they are about 6 months old.  So, if you choose a puppy from this group you must keep that puppy on heart worm "preventative" at least through it's 7th month just in case it is carrying the larvae.

As for  Patches, he weighs about 60 lbs. and was born about May 30, 2010 and what a really nice boy he is! He is wonderful with other dogs and did fine on the ride here.  He is not noisy and just really medium energy, he just seems to be thankful he is here.  When patches arrived at the TN shelter he had an open wound on the top of his lower, front, leg and they thought they'd have to amputate, but thankfully they found a foster home for him to have some time to see if it would heal on it's own.   So, not so thankfully, this foster home allowed him to be picked up running around on his own again and he ended up back at the shelter.  The foster family never let them know he was missing and failed to return several messages - nice....   So, by this time he was healing nicely and now there is a scar, but he uses the leg just fine - lucky boy.  This is all we know so far, we'll be learning as we go.
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $250.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.

We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
