My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone! My name is Dexter but I am open to changing that as I am nothing like the Serial killer Dexter on HBO. I am a sweet, 13 lb bundle of fun estimated to be around 2 years old. I am thought to be a Cairn Terrier/poodle mix . I have a cream and gray coat and an adorable face. I love to run in the backyard and play fetch. I have a lot of energy because I am young and am hoping for a family that will want to play with me. I get so excited to see my people that I do a little happy dance on my hind legs. My foster mom thinks I am the doggie equivalent of Elmo. I am an excitable guy and like most 2 year olds sometimes I need my parents to set some limits . I am house trained (okay, I have had a few accidents...everyone makes mistakes from time to time) but usually I go to the door to tell my family that I need to go out. I like other dogs but sometimes sharing toys and my family's attention is hard. There are cats in my foster home and I am okay with them. I like to investigate them and give them the sniff test but I mean no harm. My perfect home would have people who are home a lot so that I don't get lonely and a big, fenced yard where I can run and play to my heart's content. I love attention but I am also quite good at entertaining myself. Going for walks is fun and helps me burn off some energy. Sometimes I pull on my leash but that's because I am so excited to explore and those squirrels really need to be chased. I am crate trained but it is not my favorite place to be. I would much rather be curled up in your lap. I will complain a little when I have to go in the crate but I settle down quickly. I am not a big barker.
I am up to date on all my vaccines, negative for Lyme disease and Heartworm, neutered and microchipped.
If you are looking for a ray of sunshine to brighten your world, you need to meet me. I am such a happy guy that it is downright contagious. You can't meet me and not smile. Go ahead and try, I double dog dare you.

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.Dexter
