My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET LADY -

Our little LADY is a two year old, black and tan, short hair, miniature dachshund and the gentlest of souls. LADY came to Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. via a concerned citizen who rescued her from an abusive breeding situation. When she arrived, she was malnourished, had some broken teeth, was missing some hair and was scared. LADY is looking for her knight in shining armor (or another generous lady in shining armor) to whisk her away to their quiet, humble, homey castle, love her and cherish her. LADY is sensitive, so she can't have hard commands, but does understand commands and comes when called. She loves to be talked to, especially if you look her in the eye and stroke her face. LADY adores one on one attention. Likes lots of praise and comments like "good girl". She is energetic and playful - she likes to steal toys and run with them. She likes to hide under the bed as well as sit in front of living room window and watch goings on outside. She is also very good when getting a bath, and like most ladies, prefers not to be disturbed when resting comfortably. While not a fan of other dogs or cats, our darling LADY does enjoy the company of older children and neutered male doxies. She also loves to run, hike and play so a secure fenced yard is a must, though she doesn't appreciate the cold weather much. LADY is precious, sweet and very loving. Are you waiting for a precious LADY dachshund to cherish forever? If so, please fill out the Adoption Questionnaire on our website.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give LADY a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
