My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We often wonder what is running through people's minds when they make a decision to dump a wonderful and loving dog because he's become inconvenient...where is their heart?? Such are our thoughts with Cappy...and it's only great luck and a few loving humans who changed his destiny. Cappy was dumped in a high-kill shelter when he turned 3 and was no longer puppy-cute and novel Just in time, a compassionate rescuer happened along the way and took pity on this adorable Yorkie. To our joy, Cappy was meant to survive his ordeal and get rescued. He was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested and passed all with flying colors. He is now safely in his foster home...being nurtured with love and hugs while being taught skills so important in the development of any dog. Capone is so over-the-top beautiful and loving - his photos absolutely doesn't do him justice! He tries so hard but we need to be reminded that he's a young guy...just about 3.5 years old and 14 lbs (perfect hiking size)... who needs to be shown the way by a patient and loving human who understands the boundaries necessary for any dog. Cappy is a willing student...with frequent socialization with both dogs and humans, he will continue along the path of a loving and well-adjusted adult dog. Positive reinforcement group training class is a great tool for family bonding as well as developing great behavior when out in the community. We are searching for an involved family for Cappy. He would love nothing more than being with his people...on their lap is a great secure spot for him. It will be dog-lovers who choose to have their dog involved in their life that would be perfect for this sweet pup. We don't want Cappy to be left behind while his people spend long hours at work or other activities. He's very portable at 14 lbs and would be a great companion for walks, riding shotgun in the car, or visiting with dog-friendly friends. Capone would be overjoyed with coming along with his person....errands, adventures or just lap-time speaks to Cappy. He just naturally has a sweet temperament..while initially a bit shy.. that is perfect for a family with older children, cats and other gentle dogs. Cappy would also do very well as an only dog...he doesn't require that relationship to be happy. He dislikes puppies climbing on him but does very well with older, quiet dogs. He'd also be great with dedicated retirees...he is so positive and affectionate that a relationship with Cappy is very easy - he really wants to please and be a devoted best friend.
Cappy is either a purebred Yorkie, or just a bit of Silky Terrier, which would explain the larger 14 lb size. Cappy is a non-shedding pup and will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.

Cappy is currently being fostered in Boulder. If interested in setting up a Meet & Greet with this sweet guy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
