It's shocking to walk down the aisle of an extremely dreary high-kill Texas shelter and see the handsome Dante. Your mind can't help but go to..how and why did this exceptional dog (both inside & out) get in this horrendous situation? It's fortunate that the awesome volunteers at this shelter do everything possible to save the lives of dogs with great temperaments. The numbers are still very sad and bring home the urgent need to spay/neuter. Dante was one of the extremely fortunate as he rode away from the shelter to a new life. Dante was never properly loved..and finally at approximately 9 - 12 months old and 12 lbs..he is neutered and vaccinated. He'll soon also have a spa day where his matted shelter hair will be groomed after a sudsy bath...he'll be so gorgeous! Dante's great Texas foster is teaching him about appropriate behavior in a home. He is very receptive and his wonderful..and sometimes silly..personality is emerging. While initially a bit shy, Dante warms up into the sweetest guy ever. He's so affectionate and cuddly..and with just a bit of encouragement, he can play with all his heart. His cottony-soft hair flies in the breeze as he plays with the doggie herd at his foster's house. Dante is very receptive and as he turns his head to give you a smile..you see his warm and sensitive eyes. He's so unusually beautiful and sweet..again the shock that he was about to be euthanized. But since all that is in the past..it's now time for Dante to have his very own forever family. His foster is working on his socialization and leash skills in preparation for Dante's trip to a very lucky Colorado family. This patient training will need to continue to make Dante the very best adult dog he can be...and there's tons of potential in this engaging little guy. We envision Dante in an involved family...he would love to walk the CO trails or play in the yard with another respectful dog and his special people. He's so positive and loving that it's impossible not to fall in love. At day's end, he'll be a super-cuddler..and once bonded..a devoted and loyal best friend.
Maltipoos are non-shedders and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes. Dante will need periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his silky-soft hair healthy and matt-free.
