My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MAISIE is a 10 year old black spayed female Lab who weighs 66 pounds. She's full of personality and likes to be with you all the time. She's happy with a couple of easy walks a day and lots of naps! Maisie walks nicely on a loose leash and loves to explore fields and woods at a leisurely pace. At night Maisie loves treats! She is especially fond of kongs, marrow bones, and biscuits. Maisie is happy to have an early bed time and loves to sleep on the floor next to your bed. Maisie loves affection and belly rubs. Maisie would be a great additional to a quiet home looking for a low energy dog with lots of love to give. Maisie has a bit of arthritis - she can do stairs but might be best suited to a home where there are limited stairs. She's approved for kids aged 10+.

Update (10/3): Maisie continues to settle into her foster home. She has finally discovered toys! She was chewing away on one of the resident dog's nylabones last night and at first we couldn't figure out what the sound was as she had not paid any attention to the toy box before then. Maisie has the most longing gaze when she is trying to hypnotize you into petting her. She definitely wants to be with her people and have love and attention. Maisie is very low maintenance, a sweet and beautiful girl.

Update (9/30): Maisie continues to do well and enjoy her stay at her foster home. She gets along well with the resident dog and with other dogs she meets outside of the house. However, we think she'd be happiest in a home where she could be the center of attention. If you have applicants looking for a sweet girl who wants to give them all her attention, Maisie is the one.

Update (9/22): Maisie has really settled into her foster home. She wasn't sure about steps to begin with but she has conquered them like a champ. Wood floors are not an issue for her. She is a sweet, quiet girl who likes to take a leisurely stroll on a loose leash, no need for a harness for her, and then have a sip of water and then settle in for a nap. She is a wonderful companion who loves to have your attention and be petted. She rides beautifully in the car; does not make a peep, takes treats gently and does not countersurf. Maisie is a gentle girl who wants to be by your side and be loved

Update (9/11): Maisie is a happy, happy pup. She started talking to on the way home from the vet last night and we really had a wonderful conversation while I scratched behind her ears once we were home. She rides in a car like a dream, walks well on a loose lead hasn't shown any begging at the table or counter surfing yet. Don't know about treats yet because of that dang tooth. She wants to be with you most of the time. She is doing well on the hard wood floors and steps but may do better in a home with few steps. She gets along well with the resident lab and is a low key gal who would love to be your companion. She is a great snuggler!!!!
