My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Loki, a big handsome guy looking for his forever home. Loki is a big sweetheart once he gets to know you, but needs a proper introduction and some socializing. If approached gently and slowly, or if HE is allowed to approach, he is fine. If someone rushes him, he backs up or growls. He was raised with young children and was very gentle and good with them, but was not around other people at the start if they make him feel vulnerable and put him on the defensive. We are socializing him and he is making daily improvements, but would do better in a home where there are not a lot of new people running in and out while he is still learning to trust and follow a leader.

It is harder to train people sometimes than it is to train dogs ; )

He will need an owner who is a strong leader so he doesn't take over that role. We would like him to feel secure and safe being in a follower position instead of being allowed to take the lead.

Name: Loki
Age: 3 yrs. 90 lbs.
Gender: Male
Mix/Purebred: Purebred
Housetrained: Yes
Crate trained: Doesn't prefer to be crated but will crate for a time
Heartworm Negative/Positive: Negative
Spayed/Neutered: Neutered
Micro chipped: Yes
Good with other dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Seemed okay with them
Good with children: Great with people if approached properly

Loki can be a total love bug once he knows and trusts you. You can grab his feet, ears, legs, etc, and he doesn't mind...and even had his nails clipped the other day and was a good boy! : )

Because of poor diet, he developed some hair loss on his back, but with just a few medicated baths, grain-free food, TLC and a round of antibiotics, it has clearing up nicely. He would need to be fed a healthy good grain free food to insure his coat stays thick and healthy. Because he is a big boy, and very strong, he needs someone who knows the breed, it's requirements and would be a good match for this handsome guy!
