My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rescue Transfer - DASH Animal Rescue (OH)

Location: Lexington, KY
Contact: Sarah at sarahthewayhome@gmail.com

Joy came to TWHRA by way of a high intake/high kill shelter in Alabama! Joy was saved from sure euthanasia at Bibb County Alabama impoundment. Joy was the last animal out before 30 were euthanized for space, so she is a very lucky girl!

Joy is a mixed breed, our best guess being a terrier/lab mix. She is about 9 months old and approximately 35 pounds, and we don't expect her to get much bigger. Joy has proven to be a very sweet and smart girl! She walks very well on leash and sits for treats, and she picks up on things very quickly and does well with positive reinforcement. She has an average energy level. She is crated at night for bedtime and does well in the crate. She is playful and fun-loving, and you just can't help but fall in love with her! She enjoys the company of other dogs, does well with cats, and loves people, though rowdy/loud children cause her to become a bit timid.

Joy is current of all of her vaccinations, has been spayed, has been heartworm tested and is current on heartworm preventative, and has been dewormed. TWHRA, is open to out of state adoptions if they feel the applicant is a good fit for Joy, and it is within a distance in which arrangements to do a ‘home visit’ can be made. TWHRA is also open to 'foster to adopt' arrangements, allowing the applicant to foster Joy for a 2 week trial to determine if it's a good match before adoption is finalized. Joy's adoption is $125 to help defray the cost of her vetting. To learn more about Joy, or for an adoption application, please email Sarah at sarahthewayhome@gmail.com . Joy has all sorts of love to give and we promise you won't be disappointed if you make her a member of your family! Thank you for your interest in a rescue dog like Joy!
