Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Tapestry, a 10 month old black collie mix weighing about 30 pounds. Read on for his story: from Tatters to Tapestry.
In August, a puppy was found tied up outside a vet clinic in rural Missouri. He was terribly thin, and had bald patches all over his head and body. He was in such bad shape they called him Tatters. But he seemed really sweet, so instead of turning him over to the local shelter the vet took him in as a boarder, gave him his puppy shots, diagnosed him with mange and treated him--all for free.
When it became clear that Tatters was going to make a full recovery, the vet asked a local rescue group to try and find him a home. Adopt-A-Pet agreed to help. Transport was arranged, a foster home was found, and Tatters is now here in Illinois, continuing his mange treatments at an Adopt-A-Pet vet.
The puppy looks so good now, we gave him a new name: Tapestry. His foster home says he is a gentle and very smart puppy, already house-trained. He is great with other dogs, friendly and playful with people, and not at all a barker. In fact, for a young dog, he is incredibly calm and easy-going.
We were told he was part Border Collie, but now that we've gotten to know him, we don't think he has the energy level or herding instinct typical of that breed. Most likely he is a mix of several breeds, including lab. Like any young dog, Tapestry needs a family where someone is home part or all day, who will commit to obedience training and keeping him well-exercised.
Tapestry's adoption fee of $310 includes: vet exam, distemper combo and bordetella vaccinations, heartworm test (neg), heartworm preventative, rabies vaccination, deworming, flea and tick preventative, mange treatments, microchip and neuter.
If you are interested in providing a happy ending to this tale of the dog formerly known as Tatters, come meet Tapestry!
