Sleepy's Info...

I am already spayed, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Sleepy's Story...
Sleepy and siblings are happy shepherd mix pups, born about 7/19/14. Their mama came in with them (she is the beautiful blonde shepherd mix in the video), so we know that half of the mix... but suspect there may be multiple papas, since the pups all look different! They are true, adorable "LeMutte Pups" and are currently being fostered in a home with other dogs and a cat. The pups are scheduled for spay/neuter on 9/30 and will be ready to go home by 10/3.

Sleepy, a girl, is a special needs pup; she came in with a severe untreated eye infection which has left her blind in her right eye. The eye is under the care of vets at the Animal Eye Clinic in Spokane; she has a visit scheduled on 9/18, where we may learn more about whether the eye needs to be removed now, or if it should stay at least until she is full-grown. It is no longer painful, since we have treated the underlying infection, and doesn't slow her down for a second! In fact, Sleepy is one of the pack leaders, and will want an experienced adopter who will know how to train her to be the best pup she can be, without allowing her to run the entire household!

Puppies require a lot of human interaction, and all puppies will benefit from obedience training and full immersion in their human household. These pups' ideal homes will have someone who can exercise them with a couple of energetic walks each day, plus commitment to training them how to be the best dogs they can be. They hope to have very few hours per day when they will be without the companionship of a human or other pet. They will reward their forever people with boundless love and loyalty! We start all puppies on their vaccinations as soon as they arrive at the shelter (this group will have had 2 multi-way puppy vaccinations before they go home, and will require one final booster shortly after arrival, then rabies vaccination between 4-6 months of age).

Sleepy comes with a 30-day money-back trial adoption period. We will be closing the first round of applications no later than Sunday 9/21 (possibly earlier); if the pups' perfect forever homes aren't found by then, we will open the application period up again.

Spay/neuter, worming, microchip and all age-appropriate shots are always completed before placement, and are included in the adoption fee (suggested minimum $108; more gratefully accepted!)

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your payment to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sleepy, a Republic Shepherd (Unknown Type) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Republic, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type) puppy from a breeder in Republic.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Republic already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Republic breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Republic paves the way for another one to be saved.
