My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET ABIGAIL -

Our little ABIGAIL is:

An Adorable AKC (no papers)
Black and Tan (and Beautiful) Dachshund. She is
Intelligent and energetic,
Good natured - enjoys older children and doxies; she is
Always quiet (a non-barker),
Inquisitive and
Loving

Yes, our little ABIGAIL is doxie through and through. She is just under 2 years old and weighs only 11.9 lbs. Here are a few other things we'd like to share about our sweet ABIGAIL: She loves her extra large wire crate, and is truly a lady. She likes other doxies and could be placed with a neutered male dachshund (if he's a gentleman - no less for our little ABIGAIL). She also enjoys a lot of exercise, so she must have a fenced yard and a forever family who is willing to shower her with love, affection and give her lots of exercise. ABIGAIL needs a lot of reassurance, cuddles and love from a doxie savvy home, but she will give you more love and affection in return.

NOTE FROM ODR, INC. ABIGAIL is a high energy doxie and loves to run. Her new human family must have a fenced yard where she can play and they need to be aware of her tendency to run off and check out what's happening 'over there.' We haven't had her long enough to know how she gets along with cats yet.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give ABIGAIL a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
