HEIDI's Story...
Hello! My name is Heidi and I am a 2 year old, 49 lb, Basset Hound/Swiss Mountain Dog mix. I grew up on a farm with chickens and cows and recently had one small litter of pups. I have the short legs of a Bassett Hound and stocky body and beautiful markings of a Swiss Mountain Dog. My coat is very short and shiny. I am very friendly with people and get along well with other dogs. I come readily when called and like to be with the family. I am playful and I like to retrieve toys but can also be very calm and even sit comfortably in your lap! I have a marvelous presence and personality around others and I promise to be your best dog ever in life. Won’t you give me a great home and love? ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Why Adoption is a Great Option

HEIDI, a Salem Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Salem, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
