My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I’m Sweet Pea, a 35 lbs. female Border Collie / Malinois or Shepard mix. I am 1 year old and lovin' life! I am long and lanky and beautiful if I do say so myself. I love to play, but I can spend a good number of hours lazin' around. I am a very affectionate dog and need affection back from you. Please pet me often, as I adore attention.

Commands I know are: sit, stay, shake and fetch (most of the time). I'm still learning come, and down. I walk well on lead and will listen to heel most of the time (I'm still a kid after all).

I love riding in the car (give me the keys, I'll drive!) and do very well at fenced dog parks. I am not an aggressive dog by any means. I get along well with other dogs, people and children. I do not resource guard. I am crate trained and you can leave me alone in a room for 5 to 7 hours, but If you value your bath mat, don't leave it in the room without someone there. I still haven't gotten past that yet - but I'm a fast learner. I am house trained with very good house manners and I have been trained to stay off the furniture. I will follow you around the house, well…like a dog! I am house trained and will go on a lead.

I will wiggle like crazy when you come home to say hello to me, but I am learning that jumping up on humans is not ok. Did I mention that I am the sweetest dog ever? That's why they named me Sweet Pea.

One last thing, I did a really dumb thing when I was a silly pup and tried to jump over a fence and caught my leg. I sustained a distal harris fracture to my left hind femur. Surgery was done and it took two pins to fix, but I have fully recovered and you should see me go when I run - like the wind!

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please go on line and fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
