My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

STARK is a 4 year old black neutered Lab who weighs 80 pounds. He gets excited when going for car rides so therefore needs to be well secured. He comes from a rural area and would probably not do well living in a city, an apartment/condo or a busy neighborhood. He is a sweet, loving boy who would benefit from obedience training. and good with other dogs and cats and approved for kids 10+.

Update (10/6): Hi, my name is Stark. I can jump straight up in the air, which I typically do to express my excitement. I make sure that everyone around me is safe, mostly by following them around and keeping an eye on things. My foster siblings are fun to play with and life out here never gets boring, especially with my favorite chewy bone around. I do have competition for my bone but I don't mind, I am happy to share. I play well with all of my foster siblings, including the cat. My foster parents have spent some time giving me treats, but oddly enough they keep asking me to do stuff first. I have learned that sitting gets me a lot of treats, also opens doors by the way. Treats can also be found in my crate, which isn't a bad place at all, I just curl up and go to sleep. My foster parents also keep reminding me to use that outdoor bathroom all the time, and I have been good about it. I only have one weakness: water. If I see it, I have to drink it or stand in it. I cannot help myself...and then I have to use the bathroom, outdoors. Oh and then there are puppy kisses and being petted, I love that, cannot get enough of it! If you let me, I will give you puppy kisses and sit on your lap,( no, I am not too big!) and lean on you with my patented lab-lean. According to my foster parents I am a good boy, what can I say, I try hard!

Update (10/5): Mr. Stark is doing really well with his fosters and does great with all of the other dogs. He has lost interest in the cat, who still avoids him, to be sure. He is on his way to be super pup. He is a very kind and loving boy who wants to make you happy, he is trying hard and will do what you make him understand, so he needs a patient family, ideally with some experience training a lab. Just think of him as a puppy, still. Stark will be a great dog, loyal and loving, full of puppy kisses for everyone!

Update (9/29): Stark is a very friendly and loving lab. Stark is really an oversized puppy who is trying to figure out how to please the humans around him. Nobody has taken the time to show him how to be the good boy he would really like to be, so he is learning how to sit and stay, not to help himself to food off the counter and earn extra pets by just doing all of the basic things right. His favorite activity is to curl up next to a human and take a nap. He is very active but not crazy active, so once he settles in and knows the routine, he relaxes. He is ok in a crate, not his most favorite place but he will go in willingly and settles in after a while. To express his endless happiness he will just jump straight up in the air with his tongue flying around, it is a riot to watch; he is most certainly entertaining. He will make a great dog with some training, and he absolutely wants to learn and make you very happy with him. He is good with other dogs but still isn't sure about the cat.

Update (9/23): This boy is SO handsome and sweet. He's just a giant puppy - all legs and tongue. Jumps because he's excited, and gives kisses, but sits nicely when asked. He really just needs someone who is going to give him training and direction. He loved running in the tiny little play yard, but would LOVE to run his long legs off. He retrieves too and brought it back to have it thrown again. He's just the sweetest thing!
