Kewpie wants to be a lap dog – she really does. But her past life has made her wary and self protective. Her new guardian must go slow and gentle. Kewpie was adopted in April of 2013 but was recently returned because her guardian felt that she was not adapting to life in their home. Given her past experience, it’s not surprising that she’s afraid and sometimes hides. Kewpie is a sensitive, worried gal, who startles easily. Eventually, we hope that Kewpie will love spending time with people and being petted. She’s not there yet; you see for the first year of her life, this petite dog was with many other breeding dogs with very little socialization and not much human contact. Adopting a puppy mill survivor is not a quick fix and potential adopters must realize that it can take months or years. What’s more, there are those dogs that just need to be accepted for who and what they are. Kewpie may never have the exact same reactions as other dogs but you will see the joy that she takes in living and playing with her fur buds each day knowing that she will have a cozy bed, good food, clean water, and unconditional love. To Kewpie, these small comforts alone are pure bliss. She relates well to her canine friends and it might help to have another dog in her new home to show her the ropes. At 6 lbs., she needs an experienced adult home; a home with other dogs would be ideal. Kewpie longs for a caring and patient guardian who will make her feel safe. Can you give this pup with the sad eyes the stability and welcoming home she so deserves. Please fill in the Adoption Form if you would like to adopt Kewpie.
