My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little girl wears her heart on her sleeve or should we say side!! Jackie is a very loyal and devoted companion. She is very in tune with her person and extremely eager to please. She would be great as an agility dog or competitive obedience. She would make a wonderful single's companion although she would be fine in a family setting as well. Jackie is approximately 2 - 3 years old and currently weighs 32 lbs.

Here is what else her foster family had to say:

Jackie is a very loyal and affectionate girl. She loves to run up to you and give you big wet kisses as a reminder that she is there and ready for you at anytime! While Jackie is good with the other dogs and enjoys playing, she would much rather be spending time with her person. She loves cuddling up on the couch, playing fetch, or going for a walk. She is fine with children but is more interested in her adult companions. Jackie has growled at strangers when they are approaching the house in the dark but once she gets a sniff of them she is fine. With people she knows, it is all tail wags and kisses.

Jackie is wonderful in the home. She is clean, quiet, and content. She has proven herself to be totally trustworthy when left alone on her own but she is also very content in the crate. She will trot in with no hesitation and either sits using the crate as a support or hits the deck and lays down! Shes left for around 4-6 hours. In her own home with her forever family I would say you wouldn't have a need to crate her on a daily basis. She doesn't get into anything and is not destructive.

She is a very quiet dog and only barks to alert you something or someone is there. But with a call of her name she comes flying back to you with no hesitation and the barking stops. She's beautiful in the house. She finds a toy and a good spot to lay down - close to her person that is - and settles in. Jackie knows sit, come, no, and leave it. She has a wonderful recall and will stop dead in her tracks to come back to you!

Jackie walks well on leash. She will pull if there is something REALLY intriguing but most of the time she is too busy looking at her person in ahh that she doesn't even notice what's going on around her. She is fully house trained. In true Jackie style, laid back taking everything in stride, she does wonderful in the car. She prefers to be with her head on someone's lap but will take a cozy spot in the back seat as well!

Jackie can sometimes be possessive of her person with other dogs (could be left over from being in the pound and with time and more confidence this behaviour would disappear) but if we tell her she is being silly, it usually stops. She would probably do best as an only dog or with another confident, respectful dog her own age. She is great with the cats in the home and literally just ignores them.

Jackie would do best in a home with adults or older children. She is expressive with her mouth when she is excited. Something we are working on but she is never nasty or hurts. She needs someone who is willing to spend time with her. She is very intelligent and needs that stimulation to be the best Jackie she can be! I could see Jackie with a single or a professional couple who is looking for a companion and wanting to get into Agility/Training as a hobby. Jackie is so into her person that her forever family would need to be one who has time to dedicate to her and has the time and space to run and stimulate this smart cookie!

If you think Jackie would be a good companion for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
