My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Molly is an 11 year old sweetheart, a purebred Golden Retriever looking for a quieter forever home that will encourage her to expand her horizons. She is timid and is easily frightened by noises she is not familiar with, like kitchen
appliances and car horns. Her new family needs to understand that it can take some time for her to become accustomed to new things.

Molly enjoys being petted and would love to sit near you while you do whatever you do. Molly also seems to like to ride in the car. She has not shown any interest in toys, but is food-motivated and will come into the kitchen if there's any food-related activity. She eats all her meals, and enjoys chewing on rawhide
strips. She will sometimes beg for people food, but will be good with gentle verbal correction.

When Molly arrived, she was very frightened of the outdoors. She is learning to be more confident in the back yard, but still exhibits too much anxiety for leash walks. She readily accepts being bathed in the shower with a hand-held sprayer. She tolerates grooming but, like many Golden Retrievers, doesn't like having her feathers pulled. She prefers any mats be snipped off rather than worked out with the mat comb. She has not tried to get up on any furniture but will sometimes use a dog bed if one is handy.

As with so many mature Goldens, Molly is a bit uncomfortable on hardwood floors. She has some back problems, so she needs forever home that does not require a lot of stair-climbing. Her life should be centered on the main level of her
forever home. It's very important that she be able to go in and out of the housewithout more than a couple of stairs.

Molly's Golden Retriever foster brother has been helpful in making her feel safer outdoors. Molly is used to sharing her life with another dog, and enjoys meeting new ones. She has made brief play overtures. Any canine siblings should be
friendly and gentle in their play style.
