My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Carmine is a very out-going, friendly and affectionate pup. He loves everyone including people of all ages and has wanted to be friends with every other dog he has met. He is an independent, energetic pup that will need someone that is committed to his training. He is fully house trained and sleeps well through the night in his own bed. Carmine is approximately 8 months - a year old and currently weighs 41 lbs.

Here is what else his foster family had to say:

Carmine is an affectionate, feisty, smart, independent, energetic puppy with a lot of potential. He needs further obedience training to help reinforce boundaries and basic commands and leash walking, and a lot of good outdoor exercise time.

His affectionate little kisses are most endearing. He has no food or toy aggression and is very friendly with everybody. He is house-trained and is good in his crate while I am out of the house. He always wants to approach and play with other dogs outside the home - there are no other pets in my home. We have had no exposure to cats with Carmine.

Carmine loves playing with his toys and squeaking them, going on walks, sitting on the balcony watching the world go by, and most of all chasing squirrels and rabbits!!! He is a fairly quiet boy in the home - occasionally barking at some sounds outside (usually other dogs are triggers).

Carmine is good with his food - shows no signs of aggression and is gentle when accepting treats from your hand. He does not counter surf or climb up on furniture to steal food (he doesn't appear to be very food-motivated). He is still a puppy and does love to chew and squeak but does not destroy his toys. He has not chewed any shoes lying around when I am in the house, but is crated when I am away.

He does listen to 'come' and 'off', and has been practising "sit, lie down, drop" with me and is a good learner and intelligent. He walks quite well on a leash (except when he sees squirrels or rabbits) :) He could use some reinforcement training since he is a strong boy. He walks better in a harness and leash than a collar and leash.

I live in a condo so there is no yard for him to play in which would be a plus however he would be fine living in an apartment as long as he was given a good walk and enough outside exercise. He usually waits to have his leash put on before leaving. He is a very quiet dog in the home and reserved so he doesn't cause any problems.

He would do really well with a loving individual or family with an active lifestyle and some discipline and training. He would be fine with another dog in the home or as an only pet. He would love some older kids and a backyard to play in.

If you think Carmine would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
