found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
Fun-loving, sensitive, athletic, and joyous, this compact little cutie, barely more than a puppy, lights up the world with his zest for life. Got tennis balls? Good---you’ll need them because they’re Ricky’s favorite toy! Not only is he enthusiastic about playtime, this spunky boy is intelligent, too. Although his exercise needs are modest, Ricky needs daily mental stimulation and physical activity to stay fit and happy. Interested and inquisitive without being demanding or excitable, this little character can be quite the hambone, and if he can get you to laugh at his silly antics, then he’s definitely going to try a repeat. Affectionate, sensitive, obedient, and quick to please when he knows what is expected of him, this loyal, wholeheartedly sincere canine needs responsible owners willing to provide lifelong leadership and companionship.
Ricky is currently working on his leash skills and good manners training with Monroe SPCA. Although responsive to direction and well-mannered on a leash, he can lose focus quickly and is easily distracted when outdoors. Redirection with positive reinforcement are helping to improve his attentiveness. It’s important to remember this boy is still very young, so his puppy-like behavior is understandable and expected. Ricky’s focus will steadily increase with time. Patient leadership, a structured environment, and plenty of TLC will also help his transition (currently underway) from puppy to mature adult canine.
Ricky is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a moderately-active to active lifestyle. As with all of our adoptable pets, we recommend a meet-n-greet with any housemate dogs prior to adoption. Direct interaction with cats is unknown and cannot be assessed at the shelter at this time.
Ricky currently resides at the Monroe County Animal Shelter. The shelter is located at 911 South Raisinville Road, Monroe, MI 48161. You can meet him during regular shelter hours; Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, and Saturday, 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.
