Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The first time we saw Willers was when he came to our spay/neuter clinic and received a microchip. We didn’t see him again until he was rescued from a barn where he had been dumped after a shelter was shut down for hoarding cats. Willers is an enormous, fluffy grey-and-white cat who did well with both people and cats in his foster home. He can be stressed out in this new environment, and has been known to get overstimulated, so it is important to watch his body language. Because he is sensitive, Willers would do best in a quiet home. He was born around 2011.
Willers does test positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), which causes a weakening of the immune system in cats. It's often compared to human HIV, but FIV is not transferable to humans or other species. It is also difficult to transfer to other sterilized cats, and we believe that mixed FIV and non-FIV households can work if managed properly. If kept indoors in a stress-free environment, with regular medical care and high-quality nutrition, most FIV+ cats live long and healthy lives. Tree House staff can help answer your questions to see if an FIV+ cat is the right choice for you. FIV+ cats adopted from Tree House are eligible for a lifetime veterinary-care plan that includes a free annual exam and discounted treatments.
