My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HUNK is an 18 month old yellow neutered male Lab who weighs 55 pounds. He needs room to run, adopters committed to exercising him, and other doggies to keep him company and wear him out would be a plus, Hunk is such a social boy. He loves going to the dog park and meeting other dogs, young and old. He also rides very well in the car. He doesn't seem that interested in toys--he's totally other dog/human focused! Hunk knows several commands already and is great at sit and giving his paw. He is a strong walker so would do better with an EZWalk harness. He thinks nothing's better than having his ear scratched while he sits between your legs. We know the next best thing though is getting his forever home. He is approved from kids aged 10+.

Update (10/14): It was a grey day and Hunk was feeling down because he didn't get adopted yesterday at the event, so we decided to make the best of it and hiked to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain today. This boy is so much fun. He's a great hiker in the trails and on the paved road. He doesn't pull on the leash, loves to explore, and always turns around when you call his name. He knows commands. When you tell him to sit, he sits right by your side. We also met a cat at the vet's. It was walking around the floor. Hunk went up to it within inches and didn't do anything. I was told it's a feisty cat, and it jumped on the bench and started a staredown contest. Hunk wasn't sure what to make of this challenge. He kept staring back. I think he could be okay with cats. He slept in my truck on the way back to the kennel. I'm sure he would have liked to snuggle in bed with someone.

Update (10/8): Hunk is such a beautiful boy. He would be great for a jogger. We jogged today, and he did well. He keeps a nice pace and doesn't pull on the leash. Tried him on a regular collar and a harness. We also walked for a long time. He pays attention to everything that moves or makes a sound--a leaf falling, geese in the pond, a snake in the trail, a turtle in the water. Speaking of water, he enjoyed wading, but when I threw a stick in, he pretty much looked at it and ignored it. Think he would like to swim if someone shows him how. He responds to "sit" and if you're already on the ground, he will sit on your lap. He's so cute! He has a nice recall and responds very well to praise and back rubs. And then he rolls over for a belly rub and continues rolling and stretching on the grass. This is a very nice doggie!!!!!!

Update (9/25): Visited Hunk at the kennel and he wants to know how come nobody is interested in meeting him. He posed for some pictures and enjoyed running around and going for a walk. He is very excited to see you because he hasn't had a lot of exercise lately. He has soft fur and beautiful eyes. He's a very nice and manageable size. Most of all, he is sweet and was full of kisses. Let's get this boy in the right family.
