My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

;Rocky is an extra-large 11-mos old (born 11-25-13) male GSD who is super-friendly and full of puppy energy. Rocky is friendly with strangers, but sometimes jumps up on them in his exuberance. Rocky formerly lived w/ two 12-yr old kids who he was great with, but has yet to meet children any younger. I'm sure he'd be friendly towards young kids, but could easily floor a small child by accident. Rocky already weighs about 90 lbs. He'll probably weigh over 120 lbs at his optimal weight when fully grown.

Rocky is great with other dogs, and just wants to play and play. He is good with both large and small dogs, but I don't want to place him in a home with just a small dog because he will overwhelm it with his exuberance. Rocky tries to chase after cats that he sees, so I will only consider homes without cats for him.

Rocky took part in some group training classes at Petsmart when he was about 2 months old, but has not received any obedience training since then. On walks, he pulls fairly strong out of excitement, but then settles down nicely He ignores most dogs when on walks, though with others he gets agitated--but not in an aggressive manner.

Rocky had been kept outside for most of his life, but is now loving life indoors at GSRSV's rescue facility. He has not had a single accident in the house (with access to a dog door), and has hardly caused any puppy-like destruction. He likes to play ball, but prefers to play keep-away than bringing the ball back. He loves to play tug-of-war and to run around with stuffed toys.

Rocky's former owner purchased him as a 2-mos old pup. He had more time for him then, but his work schedule became such that he did not have enough time to spend with Rocky, and others in his family were not into walking or training him.

Rocky needs a home with people who are eager to spend considerable time exercising and training him. Rocky is not a dog for the first-time GSD owner--his combination of size and exuberance will overwhelm those not accustomed to it.

Rocky has yet to be neutered, as I am still waiting for the Sac SPCA's spay/neuter clinic to schedule him. Rocky's adoption fee will include the cost of having him neutered at the SPCA clinic. His adopters can choose to have him neutered at a vet of their own choosing, but will have to cover the additional expense. A $200 refundable neuter deposit will be required in addition to Rocky's adoption fee.

Rocky's adoption fee is $300.
