My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet young Charlie! She is only 5 months old and has already been through so much. The beginning of her life has been pretty rough and blessed to have the opportunity to change her life! Charlie was found as a stray in Houston. Such a tough thing for a 5 month old to go through. Charlie was picked up and brought to a high kill shelter. The shelter was so unfamiliar and scary that she wasn't letting her true colors shine. No one was interested in adopting the scared puppy in the back of the kennel. We knew that we had to get this cutie out of the shelter so she can have a second chance at life. Charlie is now in a foster home and is already doing better. She is learning what is feels like to be safe, loved and understood!! She is coming out of her shell and is acting like the puppy she is. Whoever adopts her in Colorado will be seriously lucky! Charlie weighs 18lbs, is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed and spayed.

A note from Charlie's Foster - " She is such a sweetheart!! She's going to be a wonderful pet. She is definitely scared of people. The impression I get isn't that she was ever treated badly, just that she probably spent the first five months of her life without ever interacting with humans, and then one picked her up and put her in a scary shelter. Her first night here, she was very nervous, so I sat with her quietly for a little while. She hyperventilated the entire time. After some trial and error, we figured out if was us that she was afraid of. Normally with a nervous dog, I give them extra attention and snuggles, but that was making it worse for her, so yesterday I let her come to me if she wanted to. Today, she's coming up to me and kissing my hands. She's still wary of my husband, but he hasn't been around as much. Whoever she goes to will need to take things slowly with her, but we've seen a great amount of improvement just in two days!

As scared as she is/was of us, she never missed a beat with our dog! I assume she was probably part of a pack on the street, and she loved our bigger, super hyper dog from the first minute. She also does great with our cat. A home with another pet would be great for her, I think.

She was not potty trained at all, but is quickly figuring out that she goes outside. She's not skittish or anything, just untrusting of humans, but with some socialization she's going to be great!!"

A perfect match for Charlie is someone who will shower her with love and attention. Someone who enjoys hiking and socializing with people and other dogs. Because she is so young she will also need someone who will take her to obedience training. Charlie deserves someone who can be sensitive to what shes been through. If you think you're a good fit for this sweet girl please complete our adoption application at www.farfelsrescue.com. When emailing it please put ATTN:CASEY in the subject line. Thank you!!
