Spitfire's Story...
My Foster Momma christened me Spitfire from the first day she brought me home. Apparently she did this because all I used to do was hunker down in the back of my kennel and spit at her!

Momma found me outside in her neighborhood hungry, scared and all by myself underneath her brother's jeep. No one knows how I came to be there or from which direction I came from. I was terrified of humans, but she caught me anyway.

It took a long time for me to learn to trust this strange human and to let her pet me without spitting, but my new human gave me extra special attention, like feeding me through the bars of my kennel from a spoon and allowing me to come to her when I wanted cuddles. Though not particularly fond of being held, I will let Momma hold me from time to time, but I am still sensitive to kissing noises. In fact, I admit it, loud noises still scare me, such as the doorbell ringing or trash trucks going up and down the street outside. Momma says I'm skittish. I say I'm cautious.

Momma also thinks the time I choose to be affectionate with her is a little strange. I say I'm a free spirit, a rebel! Seriously, I must tell you that I do like to wake her up a 3am by laying on her tummy for cuddles and to follow her into the bathroom day or night to purr and rub all over her legs. If she didn't like it she wouldn't scratch me all over my head and chin. She wouldn't say how sweet and cute I am or marvel so at my fluffy tail. I know I entertain Momma too when I jump high into the air after the feather on a string or bat at the ball that goes round and round in a circle.

Mostly though I think Momma likes it best when I am in her bedroom playing with the other cats who live there, or when we all jump up on her bed to take naps together. I like the other cats too and enjoy chasing them throughout the house or running up and down the cat tree.

One last thing, Momma says I am ready for a new Momma or Papa, someone who will understand, though cute and fluffy, I'm not easy. She says it has taken more than four months for me to come to her at all times of the day or night for affection but she doesn't mind because she knows I have boundaries and she respects them.

I am sweet, beautiful and full of love to bestow on a new household if given the chance. I may be scared and skittish in the beginning, but given the time, I will be yours forever!
