Here's what the humans have to say about me:
In mid-August 2014, Dusty Paws received a heads-up call from a local shelter that a medium-sized dog had just been dumped in the parking lot and would be in need of rescue. She was scared, flea ridden and suffering major hair loss from flea dermatitis. As soon as she was available, Dusty Paws volunteers went to meet the dog, took her first for a bath (the water ran like mud) and then on to her foster home where she was christened Iris.
With medication, special shampoo and lotion, Iris' coat began to recover. With security and love her mood improved too, from wary to happy. Her fur is well on its way to being grown back and Iris is ready for adoption as soon as the right situation comes along. She is really quite beautiful. Iris is about 37 lbs, a small retriever-type dog mixed possibly with Border Collie. Her age is estimated at 5 years. She has a bit of white around the muzzle and on her toes.
We believe Iris has experienced a loving home in the past and is used to living indoors. She is doing very well in her foster home, where she gets along fine with her foster mate, Hank. At adoption events, she is comfortable around other dogs and likes people, including kids. Her foster dad reports she is 100% house trained and can be let to roam around the house with no problems. Iris doesn't bark much but if she hears someone out front she will jump on the couch, look out the window and bark. A dog roommate would be okay for her, but probably not cats.
Iris likes to snuggle with her foster family and with other volunteers, but is not needy. She will get her snuggles then lie at your feet. She is a sweet dog and very smart.
