Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Indigo has come a long way since coming to rescue. He has been eating very well and putting on some much needed weight. His hip bones no longer stick out and you can see his coat has filled out on his chest an tummy. And he has lost that wonderful yeasty fragrance he had, too. He is going to be quite handsome and a very big guy and now weighs 90 lbs.
He has excellent house manners and walks very nicely on a leash. He will easily go into his crate, knows sit and basic commands, but does great left uncrated. Sadly he cannot go to a house with cats, as he becomes very intent on "getting" them. He does fine with other larger dogs, especially females, even if the female is bossy and dominant.
Name: Indigo
Age: 2-3 yo approx
Gender: male
Weight: 90 lbs.
Mix/Purebred: purebred
Housetrained: assessing
Crate trained: assessing
Heartworm Negative/Positive: positive but will be treated
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Micro chipped: Yes
Good with other dogs: good with most (see below)
Good with cats: No
Good with children: assessing but seems good with people thus far
Indigo gets along with most other dogs except very dominant males, and that is only if they have a problem with him. He has even started to play like a puppy and for a guy his size that is pretty funny, if you can imagine a huge dog romping around like a pup. I don't think he ever had toys or balls to play with before and this is all new to him. He likes to go for walks too and is getting pretty good at it. He seems to have only been an outdoor dog before but does fine being crated, and doesn't mind at all.
Indigo lost his first home for killing chickens, but maybe if they had fed him he would have left the chickens alone. That does seem to be one of his favorite foods, but defeathered and cooked now. He is doing very well on grain free food and loves it. This guy deserves a wonderful home.
