Here's what the humans have to say about me:
What a scary world it is out there when you're homeless and hungry...especially when you only weigh 10 lbs. Sheldon, a beautiful 2.5 - 3 year old Schnauzer/Scottie mix, found himself in this situation through no fault of his own. His plight was the result of irresponsibility and neglect...such a sad statement for the level of care that a human bestowed on this harmless dog. Sheldon was the luckiest guy around that day...he was discovered and rescued by a kind soul who felt compassion when she realized how friendly and loving he was. He was a matted mess and entirely too thin on the outside..but nothing but pure and grateful devotion and love on the inside! Sheldon's rescuer brought him home and dedicated herself to caring for him...and reassuring his abandoned psyche that he was safe. After many efforts to find Sheldon's family...the decision was made that he deserved a new life in Colorado. He would so enjoy walks with the amazing mountain views. Sheldon loves being outside and is capable of being a devoted companion for leisurely walks. Sheldon is definitely searching for a human friend that he can devote his heart to....and that person will be the recipient of 100% of what this little dog has to offer. He's a steadfast best friend that takes his relationships seriously. We're searching for an adult home for Sheldon...a retired couple or individual who enjoy spending lots of time with a fuzzy guy would be great! It's not that Sheldon dislikes kids..we just feel he'd be more secure in the calmer reliability of an adult home. He also gets along with other dogs but we feel he could be just as happy as the one and only. He would blossom with the attention and caring touch of a dedicated family. In this environment, Sheldon will glow with joy at his incredible luck. He also loves to please...and when he's successful, he struts his stuff with high self-esteem.
Sheldon appears to be a non-shedding guy although it's hard to tell until he gets his new and healthy coat. This will come with time, great nutrition and periodic baths/brushing. Sheldon will be completely vetted, neutered and vaccinated prior to his transport to Denver to fulfill our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-adjusted dogs.
