Mojo's Story...
Mojo is a special dog who is looking for his special someone! His story started in August of 2014 when he was picked up as a stray by animal control. He came to us covered in a nasty rash, his coat was dirty and coarse to the touch, and he had no interest in socializing with anyone. Within several days he had warmed up to several people, and his circle has only widened since then! Mojo is a big hit, and it's not hard to see why. He is a young guy, between 1-2yrs old and looks to be a purebred American Bully with heavy Mastiff influence. He is short and stocky but weighs in around 90lbs. Mojo thrives off of attention, and this makes him a quick study. He has mastered "Sit", "Down", "Look", and has the potential to learn plenty more. He is still young and puppy like, so he does get jumpy and mouthy at times. He needs someone who will help to keep him under threshold so he doesn't practice these behaviors, which means no rough housing (although it is hard to resist since he's a big goofy dog!) Mojo is completely housebroken and never had an accident in the house while he was in foster. He is not destructive and is content to just lie on the floor and relax, but he is not a total couch potato. He becomes much more mouthy and disobedient when he hasn't been given a proper outlet for his energy, but this is easily remedied with at least one walk in the morning and one at night, with play time in between. He doesn't much care for toys, but will happily destroy water bottles and paper towel rolls in a second. In his down time, a stuffed kong will keep him occupied. He walks great on leash 95% of the time, and once he's gotten his initial excitement out he really walks like a dream right at your side. Mojo needs a home without cats, but can live with other dogs if it's the right "fit" for him. If their are other dogs in the house it can not be more than one or two, and proper intros need to be done as well as supervision when he is with the other dogs. Mojo doesn't always know just how big he is and is prone to pummeling other dogs in play, which can quickly escalate. Mojo tends to prefer women over men (he hasn't met a lady he doesn't like!) and he has been fine with kids, as long as they are older. He takes time to warm up to certain men, so his potential adopters will need to visit with him a couple times. Mojo has been out in public before and behaves very well. He has met multiple men while out on walks and has been great with all of them, just a little shy. Mojo is a lover through and through, and has garnered quite the fan club. His big smile and goofy antics keep everyone entertained, and he will make an amazing addition to the right family. If you are interested in meeting Mojo, please call the shelter or email tyfaneef@gmail.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mojo, a Broadway American Staffordshire Terrier/Mastiff dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Staffordshire Terrier/Mastiff for sale in Broadway, or seeking a American Staffordshire Terrier/Mastiff dog from a breeder in Broadway.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Broadway already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Broadway breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Staffordshire Terrier/Mastiff breeders who help with American Staffordshire Terrier/Mastiff rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Broadway paves the way for another one to be saved.
