Update 12/1/14:

While Vern has received a lot of interest, we're still looking for the perfect forever home for him. Vern's forever home needs:

1.) Due to his separation anxiety, Vern needs to be crated with a citronella bark collar whenever there is not a person at home. For this reason, we are looking for a home where Vern will not be home alone on a regular basis (retired, work from home, stay-at-home, etc.). Air travel with Vern is also not possible due to his anxiety issues. Vern barks when he is stressed and he is LOUD, so apartment/condo living is probably not a good fit.

2.) We are looking for a situation where Vern will get plenty of regular interaction with other dogs. Regular visits to dog parks, doggy daycare or some other opportunity for regular dog interaction is a must if Vern will be the only dog in the household.

3.) Vern has a bad track record with cats, so he also needs a feline-free household.

4.) Because of his behavioral issues, Vern is probably not a good fit for a first time dog owner.

We realize that these constraints eliminate a lot of wonderful dog homes, but we are optimistic that we can find a home that will be perfect for both Vern and his future forever family. Vern's foster family loves him like crazy and they are happy to have him for as long as it takes to find his perfect forever home.

Vern is a very sweet and very energetic 1-yr-old boy! Vern is SUPER sweet, affectionate, house-broken, crate-trained and very good with kids and other dogs.

While Vern has a lot going for him, high energy and separation anxiety have made it difficult for him to find the perfect forever home. His energy level and separation issues were just too much for two former families to handle.

Vern needs a forever home where his family will have LOTS of time to focus on him. While he is fantastic with kids, Vern would probably do best in a home without young children, due to his desire to be the center of attention.

Vern would love an energetic 4-legged brother or sister to play with, but he might be a little too much fun for a chill senior dog. If Vern is going to be an only-dog, he would like to be taken to the dog park or have opportunities to socialize with other pups regularly.

Vern would like to have a very active life – he’s looking for an active family that will have plenty of time for playing, walking, running, etc. He has really enjoyed obedience classes and would love to continue taking training classes in obedience, or rally. Vern would also be a terrific agility dog!

Vern is neutered, 13.5 lbs, micro chipped, up to date on his vaccinations and is on flea & tick and hear tworm preventative.

Vern is being fostered near Concord, NH.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

VERN: Adopted, a New Canaan Brussels Griffon dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Brussels Griffon for sale in New Canaan, or seeking a Brussels Griffon dog from a breeder in New Canaan.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New Canaan already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New Canaan breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Brussels Griffon breeders who help with Brussels Griffon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New Canaan paves the way for another one to be saved.
