Meet Mickey! He is a young American bulldog, approximately 2-3 years old as of 2016. He was named Mickey for his markings that resemble Mickey Mouse! (see picture). An alert, confident, strong, outgoing and energetic dog, Mickey will require consistent obedience training and plenty of attention and exercise from his person. He is curious and playful, even silly at times, however firm and clear leadership is a must if he is to be a successfully well-behaved and controlled dog. This fella has a lot of potential and will undoubtedly benefit if adopted by someone who is familiar with the breed and understands what it takes to own one. Mickey would do better as the only dog in the house and one with a securely fenced yard. Not a good candidate for first time dog owners. If you are interested in meeting Mickey, please contact

About Born Free Pet Shelter

About Our Shelter...

Born Free Pet Shelter is a No Kill 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue organization that has been helping homeless dogs since 1980. Located on a beautiful 5-acre refuge in the Redlands of South Florida, Born Free rescues dogs in distress and offers them the chance to lead happy and healthy lives.
We are currently responsible for over 160 dogs, ranging from puppies to seniors.
With the help of generous donations and the tireless efforts of our volunteers, we provide the love and care that they deserve.
Some of our dogs will live out their days at the shelter, but we have so many that would make wonderful companions if given the chance.

Come Meet Our Pets...

You can meet our adoptable dogs at any of these locations:
Petco (1635 NW 107th Avenue) every Saturday 12pm - 3pm

Our Adoption Process...

At the time of adoption it is essential that a fee be charged as it will be used to feed and maintain the animals that are housed at our shelter. The adoption fee includes DHPP vaccine, rabies vaccine, microchip and sterilization. We do a home check prior to approving any adoption.
