My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Foxy, a beautiful red head who is somewhere around the age of 6-8 years old. Foxy was found as a stray in southern Indiana and appears to have the happy personality, loyalty, and gorgeous looks of a corgi mixed with a chihuahua. Her curled nails and hair loss were tell tale signs that poor Foxy had been on her own for a while. Her loving attitude made her an easy placement into foster care in Indiana. Her foster mom in Indiana found her to be loving in the home, housetrained, and good with other dogs. These traits made her an ideal candidate to send to rescue up north where she could be fully vetted and then be placed into foster care while she looks for her forever family.

Foxy arrived up north to Rover Rescue where she was immediately vetted. She was spayed, given a dental, and brought up to date on her vaccinations. Foxy soon found herself en route to her new foster home. She arrived to a home with all sorts of dogs of every age and size. She politely told the bounding 5 month old puppy that she didn't want to play. Foxy lives with 2 large male resident dogs and 1 large female dog all of whom she is very submissive with at all times. Foxy's foster home is lovingly referred to as a 'zoo' at times and Foxy's quiet demeanor and low maintenance means that she gets lost in the shuffle. She would love a home where she gets more attention because she is bursting with love to give. Her ideal fur-ever home would be someone who likes to have a dog near them :) Foxy lives with a cat in the home and she is perfectly comfortable sharing a dog bed with him. She loves a warm body and will even accept the cat's company if that is all there is!

Foxy lives with several children and does well with all of them because they know to respect her. Her breeds make her a natural guardian of the people in her life. Her favorite time is when someone has time to curl up with a book or watch a movie and includes her. Her busy household does not always allow for this but when it happens, Foxy is just as happy as can be! As mentioned before, Foxy loves a warm body! If she can get to a warm body, she wiggles over and is cuddling in just moments. She is housetrained but sometimes gives her foster mom a look that says, 'do I have to go outside in that?'. Foxy does not like getting up early but will go out when she realizes that she has no choice in the matter. She did not going in the crate and her age allowed her the privilege of being loose while her foster family is gone. Foxy occasionally will drag her lower end across laminated flooring. A veterinarian took high resolution digital x-rays and saw a small amount of arthritis in the hip area. It was nothing that would bother most dogs and he feels Foxy may just be a little bit lazy (or spoiled!). Foxy is encouraged to walk if she is seen doing this by simply lifting her rear end up for her. The veterinarian's notes are available for her forever family and one can see that for now he suggests daily Rimadyl (a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug) to see if there is any improvement. Foxy loves to be groomed and fussed over. Once she knows a human is gushing over her, she really will play it up and show up some tricks.

Foxy has been spayed and is current with vaccinations including rabies and bordetella. She tested negative for internal parasites and was given a dental in which a few teeth were pulled. This has not affected her eating and she is back to dry dog food with no problems. She has tested negative for heartworm and is on a monthly preventative for heartworm and fleas. Foxy is good with other dogs of all sizes, ages, and gender. Foxy is good with people and even the cat in the home. Her adoption fee is $100. If you would like to learn more about Foxy, please call her foster mom Mary at 630-585-7927 for a phone interview. Foxy is being fostered in the Aurora area. Her foster mom will have some questions for you as well as answer any additional questions you may have about this gorgeous red head named Foxy!
