My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal control received a call saying that there was a hapless puppy tied to a fence and that they needed to come and get her. Imagine their horror when they arrived and discovered a three month old tyke, with non-contagious mange ,chained in the hot Mississippi sun getting heartbreakingly burnt. The owner of the property claimed she was a stray but upon closer inspection control noted a large lactating female on the property as well. The ACO scooped her up and whisked her to the shelter where her chances of adoption or even survival were slim to none.

RESCUE could not pass this pup up. They kept returning again and again to her cage, knowing that if they pulled her into rescue it would be a long recuperation if she were to even survive.
They did and she is well worth the effort...
Here is what her rescuer/foster mom in Mississippi has to say about this miracle pup she name "GEM"

Gem is perfect, and a perfect home is what our GEM deserves. This princess came from a horrible situation and luckily found herself at the shelter so we could find her. Gem is housebroken, wonderful in her crate, sweet with cats and dogs, loves puppies and kittens, loves kids. Great on leash, Loves the water and loves to swim. She is a cuddler and wants a home where is part of the family. She is a 6-month-old Catahoula/Dane mix who is still growing and is going to be a beautiful unique big girl. She is understandably shy and reticent when meeting strangers and the first thing she does upon meeting you is to belly crawl to you, hoping for acceptance and a nice pat on the head. Once she knows you are not going to hurt her, she is your best friend. She is now spayed, up to date on all vaccinations and heartworm negative.

GEM will make your heart sing everyday (just looking at her) as she reminds you of the amazing healing properties of love, compassion and kindness.
