My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there. My name is Mitzi. I am about 3-4 years old and I weigh about 40 lbs (I’m very overweight).
I was surrendered to the pound along with my friends Susie, Pup-kin and Tippy after our owner was arrested.
We were left alone for several days before anyone realized we were there alone. Finally, our neighbor (which is some relation to our owner) had his daughter get us and bring us in to the pound. She described our owner as not being mentally stable.
The pound did call the police department to verify that our owner was indeed arrested. They verified that he was arrested and there was nobody to care for us.
The conditions inside our home were absolutely deplorable. It appeared that we had been living in squalor long before our owner was ever arrested.
Aside from our terrible living conditions, we also had our basic needs neglected. We were obviously well fed, but aside from that, our overall condition is poor. My toenails were VERY overgrown! Some of them were over an inch too long and my dewclaws curled up and luckily, they wrapped around over the top part of my nail and not into my dewclaw pad! Having overgrown toenails makes it painful to walk, in case you didn’t know and me being so overweight doesn’t make it any easier! At first I was reluctant about having my nails trimmed. The guy just held on to me tight and the girl snipped away my nails and before I knew it we were all finished! I must admit that I feel SO much better when I walk now. I might have to go for a mani/pedi more often!
This may be shocking considering where I came from, but the pound believes that I actually might be housebroken. I am kenneled with my best friend Susie and neither one of us have accidents in our kennel at night nor do we have accidents when we’re in the office.
I am a delightful little girl. I have a very sweet and loving disposition. I am super sweet with people and I get along well with other dogs.
If you’re looking for a super sweet and loving dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me!

I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer.

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER OCTOBER 1, 2014.
HERE AT THE COLUMBIANA COUNTY DOG POUND, WE TRY VERY HARD TO PLACE ALL OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS IN TO LOVING HOMES OR SEND THEM TO GREAT, APPROVED RESCUE GROUPS, HOWEVER, WE CAN ONLY KEEP OUR DOGS HERE AT THE POUND AS LONG AS SPACE ALLOWS.

MY ADOPTION FEE IS $110 CASH, WHICH COVERS MY SPAY SURGERY (WHICH MUST BE DONE PRIOR TO ME LEAVING THE SHELTER), MY PARVO/DISTEMPER VACCINE, RABIES VACCINE, DEWORMING AND MY CURRENT OHIO DOG LICENSE WHICH WILL BE HONORED THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF OHIO.

THE POUND IS OPEN MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 8 AM- 4 PM AND SATURDAY FROM 9 AM- 12 PM. WE ARE CLOSED SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS.
