My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maggie has been through so much, and only recently arrived at Songdog after being pulled from Apple Valley shelter in late September of 2014 and staying for a little bit at ARA Canine Rescue Inc to ensure she was healthy enough for travel up to S. Oregon. She came into rescue with her four babies, that show some heavy shepherd influence.

Many who have met Maggie believe she is primarily German Shepherd, or more specifically, Panda Shepherd, which is a rare Shepherd coloration that has recently been bred for 'novelty.' She is still recovering from giving birth to puppies while emaciated, but her coat is coming in nice and shiny and she has a very gentle personality. Despite the multitude of scars that crisscross her face from before she came to us, she is still very sweet with people.

Maggie has done well when introduced to other dogs, but she is naturally rather timid, and so we would suggest she go to a home with at most two other dogs. Otherwise she may fall to the bottom of any existing pecking order and get picked on.

Maggie needs a home JUST AS MUCH as her puppies, and so please consider her. She might not be as young as her pups or as cute, but shes fully grown (between 50-60 lbs) and still easily under three years of age.

With a unique appearance and a sweet personality, she'd make a great addition to any family! We will update with more pictures as she settles in and have more details.
