My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sam and his brother are like many black mixed breed dogs in the south, an unplanned litter to an unaltered female. They were left with their mother until they began to get big and eat a lot. At that point, someone threw them in the back of their truck and drove to a secluded area and put them out to fend for themselves. As luck would have it, they were dumped close to an elderly couple’s home whose philosophy is; if you don't feed them, they will go away. Well, they didn't go away. They stayed where they were abandoned and hunted and scrounged for food for a couple of months. At some point, a nice couple in the area noticed them while on their nightly walks. After talking to people in the area, they learned the dogs had been abandoned. These 2 were certainly not the first ones to be dumped there, however something about them tugged at this couples heart. Even though Sam and Beau were starving and had no human contact for months, they were friendly, playful and just wanted to be with somebody. So they went home with their heroes, who now have asked us for help finding them a family. Sam looks to be about 8-10 months old and weighs about 70 lbs., making him a large dog when fully grown. Sam is friendly, easy going and loves everyone. He loves to shake and sit and earn a treat. In no time, he has become a great leash walker. Sam has not been around children or cats in his current foster home. However, with his temperament, we can't imagine he would not love them. Maybe older, sturdy kids would be best due to his size. Younger, unsteady ones might be knocked over by his wagging tail. Please consider Sam in your search for a great companion. He certainly has earned it. ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.
